Kitchen Design Trends 2016

In this series we will look at emerging kitchen design trends for 2016 and beyond. Hopefully it will give you some ideas for your new kitchen. Kitchen design trends have an interesting provenance originating from an amalgamation of food trends, lifestyle trends and interior design trends. One influencer who has continually been ahead of the curve food and lifestyle trend wise is Nigella Lawson. Her first books “How to Eat” and “How to be a Domestic Goddess” heralded a renewed interest in home cooking that was to grow exponentially in the years that followed their publication.

Nigellas latest book to be released on October 8th, 2015 is entitled “Simply Nigella” and once again she has identified a trend in its early stages. In the last couple of years there has been a growing interest in living a more simple life. Blogs dedicated to extolling the benefits of simple living are increasing in popularity and this trend toward simplicity looks to go main stream. How will this new trend for simple living influence our choice in new kitchens? Take a look at the colour and textures in the kitchen pictured behind Nigella. More natural materials, more texture, more depth of colour and clean simple lines will be in evidence. Oak in particular is set to make a comeback. Limed oak in particular is already proving popular. Partner that with leather effect stone worktops and slate greys and you’ve got yourself our first kitchen design trend that will stand the test of time.
